Into the Slimy Mines is a roguelike tower defense game set in a slime-infested moon. You play as a dwarf working for Ironkilt Intergalactic Industries who crashes their mining vessel. Your mission: rescue your crew, recover your ore-filled cargo, and escape before your boss replaces you. The game combines deck-building with tower defense mechanics, offering a unique blend of strategy and action.

The core gameplay revolves around digging tunnels using Drag Dig cards to reach your missing crewmates across 30 dig sites. Each site is part of one of six unique biomes, with five increasingly difficult depths. However, the paths you dig also serve as pathways for your enemies—the slimes. You must carefully plan your excavations to balance progress and defense.

Choose from three distinct guilds: ANVIL, WARHAMMER, and PICKAXE, each offering different playstyles. You can also select from six upgradable Drill Rigs and customize them with over 30 add-ons to match your preferred strategy and the hazards of each location. The game encourages experimentation with different combinations to find what works best.

Defend your rig from waves of slimes using 26 different turrets, each with three upgrade levels. You can also use displacers and blockades to slow enemies. Mid-wave, you can activate Gadget cards to slow or blast groups of slimes or repair your buildings. The tower defense aspect is deep, requiring you to manage resources and upgrade your defenses efficiently.

Meta progression is a key feature. As you defeat slimes and complete digs, you earn resources to unlock 17 meta upgrades that make subsequent runs easier. You can also collect datapads to uncover the story of Captain Firebeard and his crew. With 10 buildings and 26 turrets to upgrade, there's plenty of content to keep you engaged.

The game also features a card upgrade system where placing the same card on top of another increases its level. This allows you to build a powerful arsenal over time. With 15 Gadget cards to assist you, and a variety of enemies and biomes, Into the Slimy Mines offers a challenging and rewarding experience for fans of roguelikes and tower defense games.
