About Into the Slimy Mines
Into the Slimy Mines is a roguelike tower defense game set on a slime-covered moon. You play as a dwarf miner working for Ironkilt Intergalactic Industries. After crash-landing, you must rescue your scattered crew and recover your ore-filled cargo before your boss replaces you. The game combines deck-building, tower defense, and digging mechanics for a unique strategic experience.
Each run starts by choosing a guild: ANVIL, WARHAMMER, or PICKAXE, each with distinct playstyles. You then select a Drill Rig from six upgradable options and customize it with over 30 add-ons. The goal is to dig through 30 procedurally generated dig sites across six biomes, each with five increasingly difficult depths. Drag Dig cards to excavate tunnels toward your crew, but beware—these paths also let enemies reach your rig.
Combat is real-time tower defense. You place turrets (26 types, each with three upgrade levels) and buildings (10 types) to defend against waves of slimes. Combine duplicate cards to upgrade them: two Level 1 Cannons become a Level 2 Cannon. You can also use Gadget cards mid-wave to slow, blast, or repair. Earn money by mining ore and use it to buy more cards or activate boosts.
Meta progression is key. As you defeat slimes and complete runs, you earn resources to unlock 17 meta upgrades that persist between runs. These make subsequent descents easier. You also collect 20 datapads that reveal the story of Captain Firebeard and his crew. The game features a humorous tone with quirky characters and a sarcastic ship AI named F.O.R.G.E.
